The lubricating circuit (1) in an internal combustion engine has a first oil pump (9.1) for a main oil line (3) to which is connected a first oil line (3.1) leading to the cylinder head (2.1), and a second oil line (3.2) leading to the crankshaft area (2.2). A piston cooling device (2.3) is in flow communication with the second oil line or with a third oil line directly connected to the main oil line. A heat exchanger (4.1) and/or a restrictor (4.2) is provided before the piston cooling device with regard to the direction of flow.
