PURPOSE: A snow chain device is provided to prevent tires of a vehicle from slipping on snowy or frozen roads in the winter season, to easily install and dismantle without moving the vehicle, to shorten installation and dismantlement time, and to reduce noise generated in traveling. CONSTITUTION: A snow chain device comprises an operating plate arranged in the outer center of a tire(10) and composed of a plurality of entrance passages arranged around the peripheral part to face toward the center; a plurality of friction members(30) having one end supported by a vehicle body-correspondent surface(11) of the tire and the other end arranged at the outside of the tire corresponding to the opposite side of the vehicle body-correspondent surface with crossing an outer peripheral surface in the width direction of the tire, and frictionizing with the ground in rotating the tire; a plurality of entrance members(35) connected with the other ends of the friction members and disposed to go into the entrance passages of the operating plate; a forcible-inserting unit(40) installed on the operating plate to insert forcibly the entrance members into the operating plate to press the outside of the tire with the friction members; and a holding/releasing unit for holding and releasing a state that the entrance member is fitted into the operating plate by the forcible-inserting unit.
