<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for manufacturing a hydrogen generating material, the hydrogen generating material, and a method and an apparatus for generating hydrogen in which Na is solidified in wire or in strip, the surface of Na in this state or solidified state is covered with metal particles, and further formed in a coil, or molten Na is charged in an Al pipe, and water is sprayed to each tip to continuously generate H<SB>2</SB>. <P>SOLUTION: Na4 extruded from an extrusion device 2 filled with pressurized inert gas 1 with Na4 stored in a molten state therein is formed in wire or in strip, or covered by metal particles 17 of Mg, Zn or Sn, and further formed in a coil, or H<SB>2</SB>O is sprayed to each tip part 26 of Na4 filled in an Al pipe 35 to continuously generate H<SB>2</SB>. A hydrogen generating material suitable for continuous use and highly safe in preservation is obtained, and used for applications such as a fuel cell to react H<SB>2</SB>with O<SB>2</SB>, a hydrogen engine to burn H<SB>2</SB>, and H<SB>2</SB>storage and portable use. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
