CRYSTAL-ORIENTED CERAMIC AND ITS MANUFACTURING METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a crystal-oriented ceramic which consists of isotropic perovskite-type potassium-sodium niobate as a basic composition and has excellent piezoelectric characteristics etc., and a highly oriented specific crystal plane, and its manufacturing method.

SOLUTION: The crystal-oriented ceramic consists of a polycrystalline body comprising an isotropic perovskite-type compound as a main phase represented by general formula: äLix(K1-yNay)1-x}äNb1-z-wTazSbw}O3(wherein x is 0≤x≤0.2; y is 0≤y≤1; z is 0≤z≤0.4; w is 0≤w≤0.2; and x+z+w is >0) and has a characteristic that a specific crystal plane of each crystal grain comprising the polycrystalline body is oriented. The crystal-oriented ceramic is obtained by forming a mixture of a first anisotropically shaped powder with a growth plane having a lattice conformability with a specific crystal plane of the perovskite-type compound to be manufactured and a first reactive material so as to orient the first anisotropically shaped powder, and heating.
