PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively reduce a waste volume and to manufacture a volume reducing machine at a low cost. SOLUTION: A volume reducing machine 100 reduces the volume of waste by putting the waste between a pair of rollers 120, 122. The pair of rollers have screw-like circumferential faces provided alternately with protrusions having a triangular cross section and recessed grooves having a V-shaped cross section around the axial direction. At the roller facing part where the pair of rollers come close to and face each other, the protrusions provided on the circumferential face of one roller are inserted into the grooves provided on the other roller, and the protrusions provided on the circumference of the other roller are inserted into the grooves provided in the one roller.
