ACETAL ADDUCT OF MUSCONE, METHOD FOR PREPARING THE ADDUCT, AND METHOD FOR OPTICAL RESOLUTION OF (±)-MUSCONE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a diastereomer of a racemic form (±)-muscone with large solubility difference between the isomers, to provide a method for preparing the diastereomer, and to provide a method for the optical resolution of the (±)-muscone into (R)-(-) form muscone or (S)-(+) form muscone. SOLUTION: The diastereomer of (±)-muscone is obtained by reaction between the racemic form (±)-muscone composed of (R)-(-) form and (S)-(+) form and dibenzyl L-tartrate or dibenzyl D-tartrate under specified conditions to form an acetal linkage. The method for preparing the diastereomer comprises carrying out the reaction between the racemic form (±)-muscone composed of (R)-(-) form and (S)-(+) form and dibenzyl L-tartrate in an inert solvent in the presence of an acid catalyst and under a dehydrating condition to form an acetal linkage.
