摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a negative electrode material for an aluminum battery capable of restraining hydrogen gas generation in discharging it. SOLUTION: This negative electrode material is characterized by containing an alloy having a composition expressed by the following formula (1): Zn<SB>a</SB>Mn<SB>b</SB>Sn<SB>c</SB>M<SB>d</SB>Al<SB>100-a-b-c-d</SB>, wherein M is an element including at least one kind of element selected from a group comprising Ga, Ti, Zr, Cr, Mg and a rare earth element; a, b, c and d satisfy 0.01 wt.%≤a≤20 wt.%, 0.01 wt.%≤b≤30 wt.%, 0≤c≤0.01 wt.% and 0≤d≤3 wt.%, respectively.
