PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem that an EL element driving transistor and an EL light emitting element are permanently destroyed owing to wire breaking, short-circuiting, etc., as a current flowing to the EL element gradually increases since the holding voltage of a capacitor holding a data signal voltage is not updated if scanning pulses from a scanning line driving circuit are ceased. SOLUTION: Provided are a scanning pulse detecting circuit which detects whether scanning pulses are outputted from the scanning line driving circuit and a power source control circuit which controls the current from a power circuit supplying a data signal current to a display part, when the scanning pulse detecting circuit detects no scanning pulses being outputted, the power source control circuit is placed in operation to cut off the current from the power circuit.
