PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data communication method and a data communication apparatus capable of optimally and automatically reducing the time to occupy the transmission path and the occupied time by a system bus of its own data communication station in the data communication between a plurality of data communication stations on a network. SOLUTION: The data communication method whereby a plurality of data communication stations 1a, 1b, 1c connected to the transmission path 2 transmit / receive data between a plurality of the data communication stations 1a, 1b, 1c is characterized in that a data communication apparatus 3 of each data communication station discriminates a temporal change pattern of the data when transmitting data of its own station, and automatically controls the interval of transmission accesses depending on a discrimination output of the data temporal change pattern.
