PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To speedily read a large quantity of photographs without causing a contact flaw. SOLUTION: A T-shaped arm 30 is turned 90°to successively feed a photograph 40 from a photograph feeder 11 to a photograph direction correction stage 35, a front image reading stage 36, a rear image reading stage 37, and a piling stage 38. In the photograph direction correction stage 35, the direction of the photograph 40 is corrected by a photograph direction correcting apparatus 12. In the front image reading stage 36, a front image is read by a front image reading apparatus 14. In the rear image reading stage 37, a rear image is read by a rear image reading apparatus 15. In the piling stage 38, photographs 40 with their reading completed are piled up. A timing of print creation is specified on the basis of the rear image by an image processing apparatus 18.
