The invention relates to a cooking utensil, comprising, a container (1) with a base (2) having an opposed internal face (2A) and an external face (2B), a baseplate (4), with an intermediate layer (5), fixed to the external face (2B) and a surface layer (6), fixed to the intermediate layer (5) and covering the same. The invention is characterised in that the surface layer (6) has at least one through cut-out (6A), for the matched reception of an ornamental piece (7) which is connected directly to the intermediate layer (5) by a hot compression method, such that the ornamental piece (7) continues into the material of the surface layer (6). The invention is of application to cooking utensils.
