PURPOSE: An apparatus for controlling a signal lamp of a crosswalk and a method thereof are provided to control to turn on only a green signal lamp by making a turn on/off time interval shorter than a turn on/off time interval of the second period. CONSTITUTION: The apparatus(20) for controlling a signal lamp of a crosswalk is arranged between a traffic signal controller and a crosswalk signal lamp, and is fabricated by one CPU or microprocessor chip. A red signal lamp waveform shaping unit(21) shapes an on/off control signal of a red signal lamp of the traffic signal controller as a specific voltage pulse. A green signal lamp waveform shaping unit(22) shapes an on/off control signal of a green signal lamp of the traffic signal controller as a specific voltage pulse. The on/off control signal of the green signal lamp is classified into the first period to turn on the green signal lamp and the second period to turn on/off the green signal lamp with a constant time interval.
