<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide yellow coloring matter for a printing ink which has a vivid hue, excellent water resistance, high solubility into an organic solvent, and excellent storage stability. <P>SOLUTION: A compound expressed by general formula (1) and an ink using the compound are provided, where in formula (1) R<SB>1</SB>-R<SB>5</SB>denote each independently a hydrogen atom, a substituted or unsubstituted alkyl group, or -CONR<SB>10</SB>R<SB>11</SB>(wherein R<SB>10</SB>and R<SB>11</SB>denote each independently a hydrogen atom or a substituted or unsubstituted alkyl group); R<SB>6</SB>a substituted or unsubstituted alkyl group; R<SB>7</SB>an alkylene group; and R<SB>8</SB>and R<SB>9</SB>, each independently, a hydrogen atom or a substituted or unsubstituted alkyl group. The compound is yellow coloring matter having a vivid hue, excellent water resistance, high solubility into organic solvents and showing excellent performances in storage stability.
