PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a switching power supply which not only supplies electric power to external devices but also has an additional function for transmitting/receiving signals from the external devices. SOLUTION: A communication means 20 is connected to a primary side of a transformer 12 through a coupling element 17 positioned closer to an input side than a rectifying diode 16 which is connected in series to the drain of an FET13. The communication means 20 comprises a high frequency circuit 21, a coding/decoding circuit 22, a modulation/demodulation circuit 23, and a signal processing circuit 24. When personal computers PC1, PC2 to PCN, which are the external devices, transmit communication data, it outputs by modulating and coding the transmission data and superposing it on an AC voltage as a high frequency. Meanwhile, when the communication data superposed on the AC voltage is inputted, it inputs in the PC1, PC2 to PCN, as the external devices, by decoding and demodulating based on the communication data.
