PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate erroneous detection for a symbol boundary position in order to improve detection accuracy for the symbol boundary position. SOLUTION: In an OFDM (Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) receiving device 1, a guard correlation / peak detecting circuit 12 computes the boundary position of an OFDM symbol based on autocorrelation of guard intervals of an OFDM signal. Based on the computed boundary position, OFDM symbol synchronous processing is performed. During calculation of the symbol boundary position, a detection range established at time interval periods of the OFDM symbol is set, and the maximum value of autocorrelation values of guard intervals is searched within the detection range. A sample position where the maximum value is detected is employed as the symbol boundary position. Moreover, the position of the detection range is controlled in a time direction so that it may become optimal suitably. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
