PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a belt fixing device which reduces the drive torque of a fixing belt without impairing the heat transfer performance from a heat roller to the fixing belt. SOLUTION: The belt fixing device 10 includes: the fixing belt 12 in the form of an endless sheet which is wound round a rotatable heat roller 14 and an unrotatably-fixed nip formation member 20 and is heated; and a rotatable pressure roller 50 firmly pressed to the nip formation member 20 with the fixing belt 12 between them. The contact part of the fixing belt 12 and pressure roller 50 is a fixing nip 40. If the tension load of the fixing belt 12 rotated by the pressure roller 50 is W[N] and the width of the fixing belt is L[m], W/L is set to the range of 18.0 to 107.9[N/m].
