PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reconstruction device and an X-ray tomography apparatus which can form a tomogram suitable for the shapes and properties of a subject to be detected. SOLUTION: The image reconstruction device 2 comprises a scanning gantry 11 for forming projection data of the subject, a memory section 22 for storing a plurality of detecting programs PGR for processing an image suitable for both or either of the shapes and properties of different subjects and forming a tomogram for focusing on both or either of the shapes and properties of the subjects, a selecting section 211 for selecting at least one image reconstruction program PGR from a plurality of image reconstruction programs stored by the memory section 22, and a reconstruction section 212 for executing the image reconstruction program PGR selected by the selection section 211 and forming a tomogram V using the projection data SD of the subject h outputted from the scanning gantry 11.
