A hard disk device, comprising a mechanism that incorporates an accelerator sensor to retract a head when a dropped state is detected by the sensor, whereby the hard disk device can be prevented from being crashed by dropping by predicting drop and impact beforehand. More specifically, a hard disk device comprising an acceleration sensor and a control device for controlling the head to retract to a ship zone when a speed detected by the sensor exceeds a specified value, wherein the head of the hard disk device is formed so as to be retracted to the shipping zone before the hard disk device receives an impact by dropping. |
