<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To execute a next-to-win display while controlling the burden on a main control board of a game machine in which the main control board and a sub-control board are separated. <P>SOLUTION: In the game machine, the main control board 11 determines whether the result of the variable display should be a jackpot or not when a game ball wins a prize, and outputs a variable display result indication signal indicating the determined result of the variable display to a display control board 13. When a condition for starting the variation is satisfied, the main control board 11 outputs a variation start command to the display control board 13. The display control board 13 determines whether the variable display should be a next-to-win variation or not, and determines whether the variable display should be the next-to-win display without presentation display or the next-to-win presentation display with presentation display if it is determined that the variable display is the next-to-win variation.
