PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a deterioration of a display quality caused by immersion of moisture or the like, and contact between substrates caused when the substrates are bonded is prevented. SOLUTION: An organic EL device 5 is arranged on a substrate 2 at the device side, and a sealing material 4 with no spacer mixed is applied to an opposite substrate 3. When the substrates are laminated, wall thicknesses of the substrate 2 at the device side and the opposite substrate 3 are measured, respectively. Then the sum of measured values of the wall thicknesses of two substrates and the thickness of the desired sealing material is obtained. After that, platens are controlled to laminate two substrates so that a distance between a face of one platen on which the substrate 2 at the device side is arranged and an opposite face of the other platen on which the substrate 3 is disposed may equal to the calculated sum.
