STATISTICAL ANALYSIS OF REGULATORY FACTOR BINDING SITES OF DIFFERENTIALLY EXPRESSED GENES

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for identifying and characterizing regulatory factor binding sites of differentially expressed genes in order to develop therapeutic strategies for the treatment of diseases which are accompanied by differential gene expression. SOLUTION: The method for statistical analysis of differentially expressed genes comprises: (a) a step of obtaining a set of differentially expressed genes; (b) a step of screening genomic sequences including the regulatory regions of the differentially expressed genes for the presence of regulatory factor binding sites; and (c) a step of identifying at least one regulatory factor binding site enriched within said set of differentially expressed genes relative to a genome-wide or tissue-wide background.
