PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem wherein detection sensitivity for a low-contrast foreign matter is worsened.

SOLUTION: This foreign matter detecting method has a step S2 for segmentalizing an X-ray image by densities, a step S3 provided with a plurality of foreign matter detecting algorithms to apply the optimum foreign matter detecting algorithm a segment by a segment, and a step S4 for processing a detection result in the every segment integrally to determine the presence of the contaminated foreign matter.
