PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily correct a protocol after stipulation while maintaining compatibility for a plurality of vendors.

SOLUTION: Control information is transmitted and received through a communication path 3 between an image supplier 2 which stores image data and an image output device 1 which outputs images on the basis of the image data, and the images based on the image data stored in the image supplier 2 are outputted by the image output device 1. At the time, between the image supplier 2 and the image output device 1, the control information relating to image output is transmitted and received through the communication path 3 as a series of scripts described in a markup language.
