PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lever type connector by which enlarging of the connector caused by providing an inertial locking means is avoided. SOLUTION: A fitting portion 15 is formed at the outer periphery of an axis 13, and a flexible lock piece 28 is provided which is elastically deflectable in a radial direction along the inner periphery of a bearing hole 23. In a rotation process of a lever 20, the fitting portion 15 and the flexible lock piece 28 are circumferentially brought into contact, and rotation of the lever 20 is regulated by the fitting force. In such state, when rotating force exceeding engaging resistance is applied to the lever 20, the flexible lock piece 28 is disengaged from the fitting portion 15 while it is elastically deflected, and rotation of the lever 20 rotates at a stretch up to a normal engagement position by inertial force exerted immediately after disengagement. As an elastic deflecting direction of the flexible lock piece 28 as an inertial locking means is arranged to be the radial direction of the axis 13, downsizing in an axial direction is probable as compared with the lock piece that is elastically deflected in the axial direction of the axis.
