PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively prevent adhesion of calcium oxalate scale not only to pulp bleaching facility and piping but also to water quality having low pH. SOLUTION: The calcium oxalate scale retarder for pulp bleaching process comprises polyasparatic acid or its water soluble salt. A method for retarding the calcium oxalate scale comprises adding the polyasparatic acid or its water-soluble salt to a water system having pH≤4 in a pulp bleaching process.
