PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surgical operation apparatus for cutting the tissue of the body securely in which extension of service life is achieved by preventing a motor from overloading. SOLUTION: The surgical operation apparatus comprises an ultrasonic vibrator 4 capable of generating ultrasonic vibration, a probe means 5 whose one end is connected to the ultrasonic vibrator 4 for transmitting the ultrasonic vibration and the other end of which is provided with an operating section capable of treating the living body tissue, a supporting shaft 3a for holding the ultrasonic vibrator 4 and the probe means 5 turnably, a driving means 13 for driving the supporting shaft 3a to cut the living body tissue using the operating section, detecting means 11 and 22 for detecting the driving force of the driving means 13, and a control means 18 for controlling the ultrasonic vibrator 4 on the basis of detection results of the detecting means 11 and 22.
