Assembly consists of blade with rigid foam core covered by laminated fibre-reinforced layers and connected to a platform made from a core with inner and outer faces. Projecting ends of blade laminated layers are folded over and attached to inner and outer surfaces of platform, and are then covered by further layers to form a platform shell. The assembly consists of a blade with a rigid foam core (12) covered by laminated fibre-reinforced layers (14) and connected to a platform made from a core (22) with inner (22a) and outer (22b) faces. The projecting ends (16, 18) of the blade laminated layers are folded over and attached to the inner and outer surfaces of the platform, and are then covered by further layers to form a platform shell enclosing the ends of the blade layers. The tip (12a) of the blade core and outer surface extensions of its layers pass through a slot (24) in the rigid foam platform core which is the same shape as the blade end section, and in a variant of the design two blades can be assembled with one platform. The platform core and covering layers are fixed together by metal e.g. aluminium fastenings.
