The distractor has at least one additional fixing device with a fastener means extending at least partly over the fastener means for the first or second fixing device in the distractor axial direction or in a plane extending parallel or at a slanting angle to this direction. The distractor includes first and second fixing devices for fixing the distractor into position and the distance between them can be altered. The fastener means are used to fix the fixing devices into position.
