PURPOSE: A wire rod rough roller whose toughness and wear resistance are improved by developing an alloy simultaneously satisfying sufficient hardenability and mechanical properties is provided, and a method for manufacturing the same is provided. CONSTITUTION: The rough roller comprises 3.0 to 3.35 wt.% of C, 0.1 to 0.5 wt.% of Mn, 1.8 to 2.2 wt.% of Si, 0.6 to 0.8 wt.% of Cu, 2.2 to 8 wt.% of Ni, 0.1 to 1 wt.% of Mo, 0.3 to 2 wt.% of Cr, 0.05 to 0.06 wt.% of Mg, and a balance of Fe and other inevitable impurities, wherein 15 to 45% of cementite is produced in the rough roller, and matrix structure of the rough roller is bainite phase. The method for manufacturing a rough roller comprises a step of manufacturing molten metal comprising 3.0 to 3.35 wt.% of C, 0.1 to 0.5 wt.% of Mn, 1.8 to 2.2 wt.% of Si, 0.6 to 0.8 wt.% of Cu, 2.2 to 8 wt.% of Ni, 0.1 to 1 wt.% of Mo, 0.3 to 2 wt.% of Cr, 0.05 to 0.06 wt.% of Mg, and a balance of Fe and other inevitable impurities; and a step of obtaining the rough roller by casting the molten metal in such a way that a cast is cooled from 750 deg.C to 300 deg.C for 100 to 300 min, wherein the molten metal is cast by dismantling the molding frame and air cooling a molded article after pouring the molten metal into a molding frame and cooling the molten metal to an austenitization temperature, and wherein the method further comprises a step of heat treating the cast in the temperature range of 400 to 600 deg.C for 2 to 16 hrs after the casting step.
