PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device whose response characteristics and display defects are improved by increasing stability of liquid crystal alignment outside a pixel electrode without sacrificing manufacturability nor display performance. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device is equipped with a 1st substrate 2 having a plurality of pixel electrodes 13 and a bus lines 32 arranged between them, a 2nd substrate 1, alignment restriction structures 20A and 21 which are provided on the pixel electrodes 13 or at at least one of pixel electrode opposition parts of the 2nd substrate 1, and a liquid crystal layer 11 held between the substrates; and the 2nd substrate 1 has at least a bus line opposition structure 25 formed opposite the bus line 32 along the bus line and the bus line opposition structure 25 has a variation part whose shape or electric characteristic partially varies in the vicinity of the intersection part of the alignment restricting structure 21 and at least some of edges of the pixel electrodes.
