PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical anisotropic element with a small change of the physical property of film with time and excellent in handleability. SOLUTION: In the optical anisotropic element having an optical anisotropic layer formed of a liquid crystal compound and an alignment layer arranged only on one side of the optical anisotropic layer, the optical anisotropic layer includes a liquid crystal alignment promoter expressed by formula (Hb-L<SP>1</SP>-)<SB>n</SB>B<SB>1</SB>(in the formula, Hb means an aliphatic group whose carbon atomic number is 6 to 40 or an aliphatic substituted oligosiloxanoxy group whose carbon atomic number is 6 to 40 , L<SP>1</SP>means a single bond radical or a divalent linking group, (n) means an integer of 2 to 12, and B<SB>1</SB>means an n-valent group including at least three cyclic structures and having an excluded volume effect. It does not matter whether the Hb and the L<SP>1</SP>present by (n) are the same or different, respectively.
