It is intended to provide a method of hygienically processing animal excrement by which animal excrement can be easily made harmless and expanding infection with pathogenic microorganisms or viruses can be effectively prevented. A photocatalyst such as ultrafine particles of titanium oxide is added to an animal feed which is then given to a domestic animal. After taking and digesting the feed, the animal discharges excrement. Then the excrement is irradiated with ultraviolet light. As a result, active oxygen is produced from water and oxygen in the atmosphere under the catalytic action of titanium oxide. Upon contact with the active oxygen, organic matters such as bacteria are oxidized and decomposed. Thus, the excrement is made harmless. |
