This invention relates to a locking device for a chain saw guide bar (13) which is removably secured to an engine body (10) by means of a joint. The joint comprises a clamping bar bolt and a nut and the bolt or nut is via a transmission connected to a grip means (25) that is accessible from the outside of the chain saw. The grip means (25) is movable between at least two positions such that the grip means in the first position is accessible in order to be manually turned whereas the grip means in the second position is secured against turning motion.
