An electromagnetic wave absorber (1) is made by injection molding a mixture prepared by adding 20-60% by volume of soft magnetic powder, a molding assistant, and a kneading assistant to thermoplastic resin, and comprises unit cells each having a hole (2) extending from top to bottom, wherein the cross sectional area of the portion of the hole (2) positioned nearer to the bottom is smaller than that of the portion of the hole (2) positioned in the top, and the height of the unit cell from bottom to top is in the neighborhood of from 1.2 times to 10 times of the maximum width of the hole in the top of the unit cell.
