SURFACE-TREATED STEEL FOR BATTERY CASE AND BATTERY CASE

A surface-treated steel for battery cases which is excellent in heat-dissipating characteristics, corrosion resistance and spot weldability, and a battery case are disclosed. As the outermost layer of a surface which forms the outer surface of a battery case, the surface-treated steel for battery cases has a black layer composed of a black tin-nickel plating layer, a black tin-nickel-sulfur plating layer, or a black cobalt-tin plating layer. A battery case is made of such a surface-treated steel by a deep drawing method, a DI method or a DTR method.
