PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new dispersion assistant which gives dispersive properties to a pigment and gives high stability to the produced pigment dispersion when used for dispersing the pigment. SOLUTION: When the pigment such as an organic pigment or the like with a condensation polycyclic structure is dispersed, the dispersion assistant consisting of a subphthalocyanine compound represented by a general formula (1) is used in the range of the weight ratio of the pigment to the dispersion assistant of 99.9:0.1-50:50, wherein X represents a halogen atom, or a hydroxyl group, or an alkyl group, or an aryl group, or an alkoxy group, or an aryloxy group, and cyclings Y<SP>1</SP>-Y<SP>3</SP>represent a benzene ring or a naphthalene ring which may have a substituent respectively.
