PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To manufacture the magnetic field modulation head of high core position accuracy with respect to a recording surface. SOLUTION: When a slider and a core constituting a magnetic field modulation head are positioned, the core is installed in a mounting space formed in the slider, and the slider is held on a first reference surface. At this time, the core is attracted to a second reference surface having a magnet end surface projected from the first reference surface by a predetermined distance, and the slider and the core are positioned.
