PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a file deletion and recovery method, an information processing system thereof, and a program therefor which enable browsing restriction of deleted file data stored in the storing area of specified deleted files (the so-called "trash can"), files on a medium for external storage unit deleted by mistake, and files overwritten by mistake to be made restorable. SOLUTION: By this method, browsing restriction of file information in the trash box by other persons is performed by setting a password to the trash box. While at deletion, the deleted files are copied to the trash box, and at the recovery, the deleted files are copied to an arbitrary storage location. At overwriting, users are made to respond as to whether the old files are stored in the trash box. Furthermore, the names of old files are stored to the trash box attaching the storing time.
