PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an aluminum alloy sheet for a can body having stab resistance improved as well as the strength of a can body increased. SOLUTION: This aluminum alloy sheet for a can body is formed of an aluminum alloy sheet containing 1.5-6% Mg as a main alloy content, can determine the Mg content for obtaining a predetermined stab strength against a specified wall thickness, by making the alloy content controlled so as to increase tensile strength and elongation in a can axis direction of a wall part in the can body which is heat-treated equivalently to paint baking, with the increase of the Mg content; having such stab resistance as to show the stab strength of 35 N or higher, in the can with the wall thickness of 0.105 mm after a surface coating such as a coating film has been removed; and making the stab strength of the can to show a positive correlation with the Mg content in the aluminum alloy sheet composing the can, when the wall thickness of the can body is specified.
