A multi-piece crankshaft is disclosed having a shaft with two ends and in which the shaft is adapted to rotate about its shaft axis. A crankpin also has two ends and an axis parallel to but spaced radially outwardly from the shaft axis. At least one counterweight extends between the shaft end and the crankpin end, being formed thereof by pouring into a mold cavity a liquid metal around the main shaft ends and the crankshaft ends.
