<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel cell capable of facilitating assembly work by reducing parts where members project from a case for housing a stack. <P>SOLUTION: This fuel cell 10 provided with a pressing means 20 for pressing and stacking a plurality of unit cells 16 is composed of: an end plate 22 disposed at an end 12a of the stack 12; an insulator 28 fitted into an insulator fitting hole 14d1 bored in a side plate 14d of the case 14 for housing the stack 12; a special nut 26 projected to the outside of the case 14 while being fitted into a special nut fitting hole 28a bored in the insulator 28; and a shaft 24 having one end 24A mounted to the end plate 22 while being screwed to the special nut 26 and having the other end 24B projected to the outside of the case 14.
