<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To control the brightness of a light emission part in dependence on ambient light and display a pointing mark with the controlled brightness, in an optical mouse. <P>SOLUTION: Brightness information is detected about reflected light from an operator such as a finger and ambient light, and according to the detection results, the light emission part is controlled to control the brightness of light emission.
