PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of magnetic prospecting that can exactly detect the length of a pile, even when a pile with a small quantity of reinforcing steel such as a cast-in-place pile is used or a prospecting hole must be arranged, at a place away from the a pile by footing. SOLUTION: A strength BH the horizontal component of a magnetic field is calculated by a horizontal magnetic field calculating part 94 from a strength BX of the magnetic field in the x-axis direction and a strength BY of the magnetic field in the y-axis direction for each depth. The strength Bh of the magnetic field with the terrestrial magnetism removed by a terrestrial magnetism removing part 93 and the strength Bz of the magnetic field in the vertical direction with the terrestrial magnetism is removed, are calculated. By calculating tanθ=Bh/Bz from the strength Bh of the magnetic field with the terrestrial magnetism removed by a prospecting result calculating part 95 and the strength Bz in the vertical direction with the terrestrial magnetism is removed, graphs and tables for tanθ=Bh/Bz for each depth is output by a data output part 96.
