PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the drying property in the manufacture of paper to improve the productivity and reduce the production cost. SOLUTION: This paper making method comprises the addition of a cationic polymer having a cationic charge density of≥3.5 meq/g and an intrinsic viscosity of≥6 dl/g to a suspension containing≥2.5 mass% cellulose, the application of shear stress to the suspension once or more, the dilution of the product, the draining of the diluted suspension liquid to form a sheet, and the drying of the sheet.
