PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a battery state monitoring device and its method capable of correctly grasping a state of a battery, and to provide a dischargeable capacity detecting method useful for correctly grasping the state of the battery including the execution of this device and this method. SOLUTION: A microcomputer 23 monitors the dischargeable capacity corresponding to a value obtained by subtracting the capacity undischargeable because of the internal resistance of the battery from the charging capacity of the battery 13, on the basis of the outputs of a current sensor 15 and a voltage sensor 17.
