PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new organic fluorescent material which has reduced crystallinity and sublimability and has improved solubility in solvents. SOLUTION: This diphenyl sulfide-based compound represented by general formula (1). A composition is characterized by containing the compound. The organic electroluminescent element comprising a pair of counter electrodes and single or more organic compound layers nipped therebetween is characterized by having a layer containing at least one of the diphenyl sulfide-based compounds.
