The present invention describes a chemical anodized process and the capability of MMP additive to form a passivating film on pure or commercial aluminum by the immersion thereof in a caustic soda solution at a room temperature. Said additive is a substance pertaining to the low cost imidazole family, which enables a coating with a broad range of applications by means of a simple chemical process that does not pollute the environment, since it is possible to obtain a product with a high added value by means of a precipitation treatment of the waste water produced by the chemical bath. The passivating film is slightly porous of the barrier-type, having a thikness of 1 to 5 aem and a complex morphology and chemical composition. The MMP additive may act as a passivating inhibitor in solutions having a broad interval of chlorine and caustic soda concentrations. The passivating film having a porosity of 0.2 may act as an alluminum dye in electrical devices, thin film capacitors, catalytic su pports and alluminum protection, as well as corrosion alloys at high temperatures or highly aggressive media.
