PURPOSE: A damping apparatus for a washing machine is provided to reduce vertical vibration of a water tub by supporting a housing with a first compression spring, and to damp horizontal vibration of the water tub by supporting a moving body with a second compression spring. CONSTITUTION: A damping apparatus for a washing machine comprises a housing(30) penetrated by a rod(20) movably connected to an upper corner of an outer cabinet; a first compression spring inserted to the housing to space the rod from the upper part of the housing; a connecting member(12) protruded in the outer periphery of a water tub(10) and supported in the housing; a moving body(50) combined with the outer periphery by sliding up and down, and composed of projections(52) formed at opposite outsides; a second compression spring(70) combined with the outer periphery of the housing and supported to a fitting sill(32) in the lower part of the housing to elastically support the moving body up; and a couple of guides(14) inclined upward in the water tub and combined with the outer periphery of the moving body. |
