A filter apparatus (10) comprises a housing (18) containing a filter element (14) and an anti-drainback valve (24) positioned within the housing. The anti-drainback valve comprises an annular support member (92) and an annular valve member (30) molded onto the support member for movement between a closed position and an opened position. The support member is made of a material stiffer than a material of the valve member. An independent claim is included for a method of assembling a filter apparatus.
