摘要 <p>A welding head(20) is carried by an industrial robot(15) which moves the head to the welding position. Initial positioning at a specified changeover point is controlled according to coordinates and the final positioning is controlled by force measurement. An Independent claim is made for the welding process in which: a) a component is picked up by a gripper of a welding head(20) on a robot arm(17); b) the head is moved using coordinate control to a specified changeover position relative to the intended welding location on a body(11) and aligned; c) the coordinate control is changed to force control and the welding head moved along a prescribed path to the final welding position.</p>
